Browser extension
A small card under the composer reads your draft as you write: what it will cost, anything personal or secret in it (one click redacts it), the writing slips, and the model the task actually deserves. The site's own send button stays yours.
The checks run on your device; the model recommendation comes from the same OpenSmartRoute decision engine as the router behind the API.
An e-mail address and a phone number, caught and redacted before send.
You write your prompt on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot or Perplexity exactly as you always do. A small pill sits by the box and keeps quiet.
The drafts are examples with made-up names, addresses and numbers - nothing here is a customer's prompt. Every price is a real quote from POST /api/v1/estimate against the public catalogue; the personal-data scan and Redact run in your browser with the extension's own patterns. Type in the composer to quote a draft of your own.

What it does
Every fragment below is the card as it appears under the composer - the same type, the same rows, the same buttons.
How it works
One click from the store, or about two minutes with the packaged build. Pin it so the popup is one click away.
Open ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot or Perplexity. The card appears under the composer and reads along: task, tokens, price, anything personal.
Redact a detail, tighten the draft or switch the model - then press the site's own send button. The extension never sends for you.
Privacy
Counting, task detection, the model hint and redaction happen in your browser. By default nothing about your draft leaves it.
A quote sends the draft - after redaction - to price it; sharing usage sends the shape of a call, never the text. Both are off until you turn them on.
Stored in the browser, never synced, revocable from your dashboard at any time. Shared history is kept for your plan's retention window and deleted with the workspace.
Apache-2.0. The package is plain JavaScript - unzip it and read it. The analysis policy and every setting are in the extension guide.
Install
Where a store listing is live it is one click. Everywhere else the packaged build installs in about two minutes with the steps below. Managed fleets install it for everyone with a policy.
Keep the unzipped folder somewhere permanent - the browser loads the extension from it, so deleting the folder removes the extension. The desktop app does this part for you: it downloads the package, unpacks it to a folder of its own and tells you which one to pick below.
Paste the address below into the address bar and press Enter - Chrome does not open it from a link.
chrome://extensionsFlip the Developer mode switch at the top right of the extensions page - it only unlocks the Load unpacked button.
Click Load unpacked and choose the unzipped folder (the one containing manifest.json).
Pin OpenSmartRoute from the extensions menu so the popup is one click away. The card appears under the composer; sign in from the popup for quotes and the AI spend report.
/extension/release.json lists the current build with file, size and SHA-256 per browser (v2.1.0-preview.115, developer preview). Compare it with the zip you downloaded; every other release file is on the downloads page.
curl -fsSLO https://opensmartroute.ai/extension/download/chrome
sha256sum opensmartroute-extension-chrome-*.zip
curl -fsS https://opensmartroute.ai/extension/release.json | jq .downloads.chrome.sha256Chrome and Edge install extensions silently for every managed profile through the ExtensionSettings policy (Group Policy, Intune or Google Admin). Edge uses the same shape with its store id and update URL; details in the extension guide.
The policy installs an extension by its store id, and the Chrome Web Store listing is not live yet - there is no id to force-install. Until it is, the packaged build above is the way in: unzip it to a share and roll the folder out with your usual tooling, and the extension guide shows the policy this page will print the day the listing is published.
E-mail addresses, phone, card and account numbers, API keys and tokens are spotted before they leave. Redact swaps them for placeholders in the draft itself; the mapping stays in the page so you can restore the answer.
The card knows whether a draft is a quick rewrite or a step-by-step analysis and compares that with the model the site's picker shows - so you switch to a fast model for the simple task and a thinking model for the hard one.
Filler, duplicated lines and stray whitespace are compacted in the draft when you ask - the card shows the tokens saved and you keep the wording.
One click quotes the same draft against every candidate in the catalogue: the router's pick, the cheapest and the best published quality, each with its estimated cost.
Switch on sharing and the extension reports the shape of each call - site, model, tokens, task - never the text. The Opportunity page in your workspace prices every call as you paid it and as the router would have routed it.
Free plan, no card. Fifteen thousand decisions a month with the full trace.
